Costume Designs [Romeo and Juliet -William Shakespear]

Imagine if Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare took place in the 1880's in the Dakota Territories of the newly won USA. What would Romeo be like? Well, he would be the son of the chief of a Sioux village threatened by the white presence. What would Capulet be like? I think he would be a white settler with a coal company that he uses to fund his campaigns for mayor of a new town near the Black Hills. Below are some costume designs for such a situation for the two famed characters.

What Things May Come -Sophia Gordon

Below are a few screen stills from the short film What Things May Come directed by Sophia Gordon. She has created a beautiful silent film portraying childhood innocence in the face of death. I was able to help in developing these characters as the make-up artist. Everything was to be kept very simple and clean so as not to distract from the strong content of the piece. Here are some images of the leading girl and death with his dead followers.

Red Handed -John Thornton

Below are a few images from the short film Red Handed directed by John Thornton of John T Films. I am the production designer of this piece and it was a really great project to work on. John is a great director to work with and we really had a chance to collaborate on ideas. One major thing in the film is the impact of the color red in the film. We were sure to make red appear when something dramatic is about to happen and when headache and heart ache fills the main character, Lu's life. Check the before and after images of some of the sets.
